Thinking of upgrading my ham license but i need to get a new radio first.
Thinking of upgrading my ham license but i think i should get a new rig first. Searching for a decent 2 meter 440cm rig dual band nothing too fancy just a basic yaseu 2m/440cm rig would be interesting instead of a quad band like i used to have. It was nice having a quad band rig. Although I didn't truely ever use ten meter or the six meter band. All i ever really worked where 2m and 440cm repeaters. Although it would be interesting to work a 10m repeater but before I did that i'd want to up my license. My only other option i would choose in a ham rig would be a icom radio. They are very dependable rig's infact the US military utilizes them.

I have two HAM rigs right now, a Yaesu FT-60 handheld and then the Icom 880H is in my car.

Yeah I used to have a.
Yeah I had an FT-8900r for about 2 years. Then i had to let it go due to needing the funds. I loved my yeasu hopefully i'll get the chance to have another. I have been looking into ft-60r's how ironic you mention the model! !

As a technician you know that you have some privileges on 10m? In any case, don't wait for a new rig to upgrade, just do it. Since there's no Morse code requirement this should be a no brainer. Good luck.
