Sometimes Radio Shack puts these on sale. I got one for $249 from Radio Shack a week before Christmas last year.

Radio Shack does have them on sale currently for 299.00 actually till the 28th. Though it would be nice to find a used one in good condition perhaps a tad less. 300 is a tad steep to me for a scanner that does not really bring much more to the table to me than listening to digital which isn't used here but in states around me, and the ability to trunk one more radio system. Not a total huge deal to me. I am starting to think if I can not perhaps find a scanner like the pro-106 which in my opinion is now a dated digital for that reasonable of a price then I may just say forget digital and get a bct-8 since they only run analog here. I like the bct-8's audio i have one but it is not working properly it seems as if it is slightly out of tune or something..? The thing sounds gargled at points one some transmissions, then on others it sounds great? I have tried different external speakers and not the internal speaker even and it still sounds trashy compared to even my pro-164 radio shack.
