Mirt traffic changing device
Has anyone tested the Mirt traffic changing device before? Only works on older traffic signals.

Another thing is to get the Opticon. I'm not sure if you need to get one for each frequency or if one will cover them all. I haven't looked into it enough.

The govt is making it very difficult to purchase a newer Mirt device now for us "civilians".

Hmm interesting Cat4?
Hmm interesting Cat4, is this Opticon a new version of the mirt that I see EMT's using to change traffic signals? I figured they must have something new because my mirt wasn't doing me any good anymore, and I still saw them changing light's I figured they must have changed the freq, or something of the sort. Is this what the Opticon is for?

I seen quite a few firetrucks and ambulances with these systems. At that time I was using a cobra radar detector which has a feature called strobe alert. Surprisingly I had a couple encounters where the detector alerted before the emergency vehicle was within my eyesight. Now my whistler doesn't react(or so I thought) to these signals however one day it alerted laser and a pulse rate of 53PPS to a firetruck

3M Opticom is the original sytem for pre-empting traffic lights. Most, if not all, of the Opticom equipped traffic lights in the Indianapolis area are now encoded. There is a special test code that appears to work on most of the traffic signals.
The first time I tried to trip an Opticom light I used a photographic flash with success. Next time I tried it on the same light it did not work. Obviously they encoded the light.
I have had fire apparatus equipped with Opticom transmitters trigger a laser alert on my 1.8 V1.
