One has to wonder with all these new lidar guns coming out? What does the next radar hold?
One has to wonder something after some random thought just now. With all these newly aquired features aboard all the lidar units. What do the radar guns of 2011, and even 2012 hold? What new technologies are they looking to bring to the table. This is very interesting to consider. With the frequency shifting technologies that have now been placed into the new generation 4 lidar units. Will they be doing this with radar to? It would seem more cost effective for them. Also more relaxing than aiming a lidar out the drivers side window in the cold. Perhaps we may just see some newer even more undetectable radars being announced here soon. This could be a very interesting next couple of years in the countermeasures industry it is going to be very exciting to see what happens next.
The line up so far in the officers hands.
1. Lidar with frequency shifting abilities "Undetectable, and unjammable."
2. Possible freq hopping radar guns.
3. Enradd time over distance devices.
4. Fully digitally encrypted radios and now scanning receiver to date without mods that can decrypt them legally.
This has become very interesting. It sure seems we the motorists are strikeing out again for the time being. It's only a matter of time before we get thrown out of the park I have the gut feeling.

5. VASCAR, very old technology but still very effective.

Some comments:
1. It's "Lidar with pulse frequency shifting ...". I'm not sure that these things will fly in US courts.
2. Frequency hopping radar would cost more and I'm not sure that departments would be willing to shell out the cash for it. Detectors can be made to detect this if it comes to be. One thing for sure: they will be expensive too.
...
4. Fully digitally encrypted radios CANNOT be picked up by any scanner. To do this would require mega resources, like with the budget of a large national agency. And if it could then it would certainly be ILLEGAL.
However, I must say that most public service (cops) transmissions should NOT be encrypted. I believe as citizens that we have the right to monitor cops. (What they really want is to keep us from knowing where the donut sales are anyway. .) But seriously, it is the government who should be monitored, not its citizens. The other way around is just un-American. Go read what our founding fathers wrote about this.

I doubt we will see anything new radar wise. The cops on their forums talk about how many RD user they catch with I/O and how RD's don't work. Which is awesome they already think they won the war when it comes to radar.

Low powered radar guns are going to be the next big threat. Look at the new Kustom Falcon HR K band unit. Everyone who meets that thing almost gets owned. Low powered photo radar units are becoming more and more a big pain.

So it seems. I've heard over at the other forum that turning RDR off on an STi-R gives you a fighting chance against some of these low-power devices. I wonder how the V1 with Ka-guard off would fare? I'm thinking with the right countermeasures these things are not so much of a threat. Still, more research is needed.

I have often times wondered this for a very, very long time. I bet I have the idea of what they are going to do. You are already seeing it with the Laser Ally. Freq hopping radar devices. This way no electronic device can lock onto them. Just like the U.S. Military uses for their service rigs to communicate. They might just make them hop freq every 3 seconds, or so. Then you wouldn't be able to hang with the warnings. Thus making all detectors useless. In the end. You'd be better off using your RedLine as a paper weight. If you don't know exactly what time on the clock they are on, you cannot hear them transmit. Deadly stuff. Coming to a theater near you. Information. Courtesy of an ex U.S. Army Infantrymen. Yours truly.
